Creative Quarter and Dame District area successfully renew the Purple Flag status!

  • Mon 20 July, 2015

We are delighted to announce that the Creative Quarter and Dame District have been successful in renewing their Purple Flag status. Purple Flag is an international award given by the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM) that recognises excellence in the management of the evening and night time economy. A Purple Flag area is acknowledged as a great destination for a night out and encompasses everything from shopping, dining, entertainment and socialising.

Purple Flag has grown in popularity throughout Ireland and the UK and now cities in Scandanavia and North American are seeking Purple Flag status. Retaining this prestigious award would not have been possible without the hard work and assistance of Dublin City Council, An Garda Siochána, Fáilte Ireland and especially the vibrant local business community who make this area such a special destination. Special thanks must go to businesses like the Stephen’s Green shopping centre, the Gaiety TheatreAccents cafeSaba RestaurantThe Bankers Bar,L’GueletonPowerscourt Shopping Centre and The Mercantile who made the visit of the independent assessment team so memorable.

The Purple Flag district is an award that recognises your area and what makes it special. We want to make sure you get the full benefit from it. Fáilte Ireland already feature the Purple Flag area on all their Dublin tourist maps and in their promotions and specific Purple Flag themed events have been programmed in the area.
