New Bin Bag Scheme for Grafton Street area

  • Mon 12 June, 2023

Businesses are advised as to upcoming changes as to how bags of rubbish (not wheelie bins) are to be presented on the street in the evenings.

Letter of explanation: Click here.
Flyer: Click here.

To summarise: soon enough, bags can only be presented on a street using custom made BagBin containers. This is to help improve the look of the street, deter vermin/birds and improve the overall collection of waste in the city centre. It involves the use of a bracket attached to a building.

You can see information on the previous trial scheme here: https://bagbin.ie.

The four main bin collection companies have all agreed to take part.

Dublin City Council will eventually roll the scheme out across the entire city centre.

Please note: Grafton Street is part of Phase 1 – and so all businesses who place rubbish in bags on Grafton Street must take part. There is no additional cost for businesses.

DublinTown are supporting the project by gathering needed information. A representative from BagBin will stop by and answer any questions from next week.
