STATEMENT FROM DUBLINTOWN ON THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE FOR DUBLIN

  • Tue 29 September, 2015

Dublin, 29th September 2015

DublinTown, the business improvement district for Dublin City Centre, welcomes today’s announcement of the development of the new Metro North for Dublin. Most significantly this development will see Dublin maintain its position as a leading European Capital into the future.  We are particularly pleased to see the project will guarantee the capacity required to connect the Airport and North Dublin to the City Centre indefinitely.

An excellent working relationship has been established between the National Transport Authority (NTA), Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and business in Dublin City Centre during the development of Luas Cross City and we are confident that this relationship will continue for the duration of the new project for the benefit of Dubliners and visitors to our city.

Commenting on the news, DublinTown CEO, Richard Guiney, stated “The announcement today is excellent news for Dublin city.  We had expressed our preference for investments that would benefit the city in the long term and the announcement today will certainly do that.  The new Metro Project provides the capacity required to sustain the city for the 21st century and beyond.”
