Traffic information re Virgin Media Night Run 2017

The Virgin Media Night Run, organised by the Athletic Association of Ireland, takes place on April 23rd 2017.

The application for this event is currently with Dublin City Council Events Department. The 10km run will be operated on a rolling road closure basis with full road closures in operation on the night of the event also. Applications for road closures have also been submitted to the council’s roadworks unit for the following road closures and times on April 23rd, 2017:

Location 1: North Wall Quay – from Samuel Beckett Bridge to Castleforbes Street – from 18.30hrs to 21.30hrs

Location 2: North Wall Quay – from Samuel Beckett Bridge to Common Road – from 19.00hrs to 23.25hrs

The temporary road closures are to facilitate the night run.

In addition to temporary road closures there will be Garda operated rolling road closures & lane closures on the race route from North Wall Quay (NWQ), Custom House Quay, Eden Quay, Marlborough Street, Cathal Brugha Street, O’Connell Street, Memorial Bridge, City Quay, Sir John Rogerson’s Quay (SJRQ), Benson Street, Hanover Quay, Misery Hill, Macken Street, Pearse Street, Ringsend Road, Bridge Street, Irishtown Road, Pembroke Street, Sean Moore Road, East Link, East Wall Road between 21:00 and 22:30hrs.
The event will start at 21:00hrs from North Wall Quay and will also finish on North Wall Quay. There will be up to 8,000 runners and joggers taking part in the run. The last athlete is scheduled to cross the finish line at approximately 22:30hrs.

The race organisers are working in partnership with the Gardaí and Dublin City Council to ensure that there is minimum disruption to the residents and businesses along the route for the duration of the event.
As per legislative guidelines, the specific road closures for this event will be advertised through Dublin City Council in the national newspaper.
A full and comprehensive traffic management plan will be put into effect around these road closures. Further details on this will be available on the Dublin City Council website.
