Project Overview
The Reimagine Dublin One programme is an initiative between Dublin City Architects’ Framework project, the American Institute of Architects and DublinTown.
Its purpose is to empower communities to improve their environment through an open, collaborative and systematic approach. It brings the public, policy makers, community and business leaders together to devise a vision and agree a framework for collective action and is delivered with the help of expert practitioners working on a voluntary basis.
A steering group has been formed which includes stakeholders from a wide background including numerous departments of Dublin City Council, DublinTown, local businesses, residents, architects, the disability federation, public transport and infrastructure providers, local elected representatives and several others.
The focus area is the Dublin One District from O’Connell Street running as far as Capel Street and from Parnell Street to the Quays. The project began with a visit from the American Institute of Architects from March 10th to 13th 2017 to Dublin One where they had the opportunity to engage with local stakeholders and members of the public to help devise a vision document for the area based on this extensive collaboration and consultation. After five days of intense work on this project, the AIA members with help of their support team completed their vision document for Dublin One
On Monday March 13th, the team presented their findings to the Lord Mayor of Dublin Brendan Carr during a special event.
