As part of a visit to the UK & Ireland, the Delegation of Shanghai Jing’an People’s District, the Governor Pan Min together with a team of politicians, visited the We Are DublinTown offices with an interest in finding out more about the DublinTown concept as well as our very own Dublin Fashion Festival. Shanghai is the largest Chinese city by population, with an unbelievable 24 million people as of 2013. Twice a year, since 1995, their city holds the Shanghai International Fashion Culture Festival. The fashion festival showcases the output of Shanghai’s fashion and textile industry and is attended by fashion buyers from around the world. So why the interest in Dublin Fashion Festival, you may be wondering? The answer is quiet simple. Dublin Fashion Festival has an unique approach as our festival is not only aimed at the fashion industry. We’re different from Fashion Week’s across the globe where the event could be summarised as an industry communicating with itself. DublinTown’s Fashion event is the fashion industry & retailers talking to the public. Dublin Fashion Festival brings together the shops, which highlights their trends, and it also includes any other businesses within the services sector, extending the event to a larger audience. It truly is an event open to all demographics and gives the opportunity for DublinTown to showcase the fantastic choice and businesses that are available to customers in Dublin’s city centre.
