Christmas footfall growth

  • Tue 06 December, 2016

DublinTown is pleased to see a positive start to the crucial Christmas shopping season with significant increases in footfall across all areas of the city. The footfall in the city centre is measured on behalf of DublinTown through specialised cameras located at important points around the city and have shown very encouraging increases beginning with an almost 11% year on year increase recorded on Black Friday (Nov 25th). DublinTown, working with Luas Cross City and other partners was able to secure that the vast majority of Luas works were off the street in time for this critical trading period. These positive trends continued into the last week which saw a year on year increase of 7.5% overall with growth at every city centre location. We are hopeful that this positive will continue and look forward to the completion of the Luas works by the end of next year which will further enhance city accessibility and should encourage further growth in 2017.

If any member businesses would like to receive footfall figures please contact us at info@dublintown.ie . We would also like to hear from any member business who are experiencing any difficulties regarding access issues or who would like our support in promoting any of their Christmas events, promotions or initiatives.
