Christmas Lights Switch On!

  • Fri 17 November, 2023

It’s beginning to look a lot like the festive season following the switch on of the Grafton Street Christmas lights last night!

With just 37 days remaining until Christmas, the Grafton Street chandeliers were switched on from the balcony of Bewley’s Café on Grafton Street. DublinTown would like to thank Cól Campbell and the team at Bewley’s for hosting.

The lights were turned on by Little Blue Heroes Foundation representatives Willow Mae Carroll from Cortown, County Meath and Cian Byrne from Finglas who pushed the magic button (pictured above).

DublinTown has been decorating Dublin at Christmas on behalf of businesses for 15 years. In total, this year DublinTown organises energy-efficient Christmas lights across 25 streets in the city centre. All lighting used is low energy LED regulated by time clocks (as an example, the Grafton Street displays uses one-third of the electricity of a domestic shower).

The DublinTown Christmas lights take 30 people – working through the night over four weeks – to safely raise and install the lights in the city centre.

From all of us in DublinTown, here’s to a great Christmas season!
