DCC Waste Management
- Sat 23 February, 2013
A meeting was held this morning with businesses in Hogan’s on George’s Street to discuss the on-going issues with waste collection in the city. Businesses met with the Head of Waste Management Seamus Lyons and raised concerns with him over the persistent missed collections for residential waste, the problem of fly-tipping and other waste issues.
New bye-laws to tackle these issues are in progress and will be brought before councilors by April 2013.
BID CEO Richard Guiney sits on the council’s Environmental Policy Group which has responsibility for waste collection and has been very active in lobbying for changes to the bye laws to address these issues.
We will keep members up to date as things progress.
