O’Connell Street – Middle Abbey Street traffic changes

  • Fri 03 June, 2016

Due to the ongoing works crossing the new Luas Cross City line with the existing Luas Red line at the junction of O’Connell Street and Middle Abbey Street from 9pm on Thursday 9th June all vehicular access from O’Connell Street onto Middle Abbey Street will be suspended for a duration of 4 weeks to facilitate required Luas Cross City infrastructure works. During this period traffic flow on Bachelors Way will be reversed to allow smaller vehicles access to Middle Abbey Street from Bachelors Walk.

Businesses on Middle Abbey Street are advised to use smaller vehicles for deliveries during the period.

Businesses south of Middle Abbey Street who have delivery access on North Lotts will retain the ability to be serviced off the Quays via Bachelors Way or Litton Lane. North Strand Street will also continue to be serviced off the Quays via Litton Lane and North Lotts.

The current Garda presence at Jervis Street / Upper Abbey Street junction from 7am to 5pm Monday to Sunday will remain in place to permit delivery access vehicles up to and including 30ft to turn right from Jervis Street onto Upper Abbey Street.
After the 4 week closure period all traffic restrictions onto Middle Abbey Street from O’Connell Street will be lifted.
